Roberta Ann (King) Donahue, age 82, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away on October 21, 2022, following a brief illness.
Roberta was born on April 21, 1940, in South Boston, MA; she was the daughter of the late John and Frances (Dowling) King. Roberta was raised in South Boston and graduated from South Boston High School.
Roberta moved to Wilmington in the mid 1960’s, where she raised her three children, Bob, Mike, and Katherine-Mary. Roberta was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family.
Roberta worked as a data entry supervisor at the corporate office of Marshalls in Woburn for many years before starting a new career at Putman Investments, where she worked until she retired.
In her spare time, Roberta loved to read; she enjoyed reading almost anything, but especially loved mysteries. She liked to knit, crochet, and spend time in her garden. Roberta had enjoyed travelling, especially cruises with her family and friends.
Roberta will be remembered for her personality; she was fun-loving and sociable. She looked forward to meeting new people and taking care of her family. Roberta was very close to her sister, Eleanore, who thought of her as a “second Mom”. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Roberta was the devoted mother of Robert Donahue of Salem, NH, Michael Donahue of Wilmington, and Katherine-Mary Jones & her husband Craig of Norton, loving “Nana” of Jillian, Lynette, Jaclyn, Alexis, and Ryan, “Great-Nana” of Jacob, dear sister of Eleanore Baker of Washington, the late Thomas King and Elaine Greenleaf. Roberta is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved dog, Holly.
Family and friends will gather for a Graveside Service at the Wildwood Cemetery, 233 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, on Tuesday, October 25th at 1:30 p.m.
Memorial donations in Roberta’s name may be made to a charity of one's choice.
