Stira, Alice Obituary

Alice Elizabeth (Addrisi) Stira, age 95, of Wilmington, died Friday, January 30, 2009, at Saints Medical Center in Lowell.

Alice was born on October 21, 1913, in Boston, MA, she was the dear daughter of the late Francis and Nicolletta Addrisi of East Boston. Alice grew up in East Boston and worked during her young adult years in and around Boston and at MIT in Cambridge. After marrying and having children, she moved to Wilmington where she lived for 50 years. She was a devoted member of St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Church in Wilmington and was well known and loved in and around the community. Alice enjoyed traveling, spending summers in Maine, crocheting, cooking, and spending time with her adoring children and grandchildren. Alice will be fondly remembered as a vibrant, vivacious woman, devoted to her family and adored by friends.

Alice was the beloved wife of the late John Stira, devoted and loving mother of John F. Stira of Wilmington, Elissa (Stira) Faulkner and her husband Dana R. of Tewksbury, and Mark A. Stira and his wife Lisa (Jemson) of Wilmington, loving grandmother of Sara and Stephanie Faulkner of Tewksbury and Jillian and Jessica Stira of Wilmington, loving sister of Pauline (Addrisi) McKearney of Middleton and the late Anthony Addrisi, James Addri si, Peter Addrisi, and Gerard Addrisi, loving aunt of Judith (McKearney) Bifano of Middleton and her children, Stefanie, Corey, and Jeremy Bifano, and the late Kathleen McKearney.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Wednesday, February 4th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours Tuesday, February 3rd from 4-8 p.m.

Memorial donations in Alice’s name may be made to Epilepsy Foundation of Mass., 540 Gallivan Blvd. #200, Boston, MA 02124-5463 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
