Obituary

Norma M. (Dahlin) Sylvia, age 79, of Salem, MA, formerly of Wilmington, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the Kindred Northeast Hospital in Stoughton following a lengthy illness.

Norma was born on February 5, 1929, in Wilmington, MA, she was the daughter of the late Emil A. & Anna M. Dahlin. Norma grew up in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School. Norma lived in Middleboro, for many years prior to moving to Salem. In her early years, Norma worked at a farm in Plympton, MA, where she was very caring to the animals. In her later years she took night classes and worked in bookkeeping for the Etonic Company. Her hobbies included sewing, making her own grape jelly, boat rides, walking when she could to sightsee and visit the waters edge near her home in Salem to feed the ducks. She loved flowers and had a small garden she tended to filled with flowers and tomatoes, she loved old romantic movies, classical music, lighthouses, seafood and she loved birds and often set up feeders for them.

Norma is survived by her children Steven A. Sylvia & his wife Laurie of Walpole, Richard C. Sylvia of Gloucester, and Donna L. Davis & her husband David of Cullman, AL, she was the loving grandmother of Tyler, Ryan, the late Justin, David, Kevin, John, Juli, & Jennifer, great-grandmother of Kayla, Gabriel, Christopher, & Anthony, dear sister of Gunvor Davis of Wilmington, Helen Gustavsen of Billerica, Dorothy Jurgens of Middleboro, and the late Carl Dahlin, Anna Marjorie Dahlin, and Martha Lynch.

Her Funeral was held at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Wednesday, May 7th at 1:00 p.m., celebrated by Rev. Travis Bonnette-Kim. Interment took place in the family lot at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
