Thomas Scolastico Obituary

Thomas D. Scolastico, “Tommy”, age 58, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away on March 14, 2023.

Tom was born on June 26, 1964 in Boston, MA; he was the son of Vera M. (Mercurio) Scolastico and the late Thomas J. Scolastico.  Born in East Boston but raised and educated in Wilmington; he graduated from Wilmington High School.

Tom worked as a mason; he was very talented and enjoyed his work.  Tom started his own company, Scolastico Masonry, where he enjoyed many years of restoration work in downtown Boston, repairing and restoring historic Brownstone buildings.   He was dedicated to his company and the people that worked for him.

Tom had a magnetic personality that people were drawn to; he loved to entertain people and make them laugh.  Through his love of music, Tom connected with everyone. In his younger days, he played in numerous bands and venues in and around Boston.  He would play his guitar, take over the microphone at social gatherings, and even turned his dump truck into a music studio to entertain people in downtown Boston.  Tom had a music studio in his home where he would hang out with his son and friends enjoying music and practicing his own skills.

Tom enjoyed many winters in Jamaica; he was drawn to the Rastafarian culture of music and celebrations.  Tom was a free spirit who wasn’t afraid to experience new cultures, food, and friends.

Tom will be remembered as a loving son, father, brother, uncle and friend to many.  He was loyal and devoted to his family and friends; Tom kept life-long friendships with many, and he treasured the memories they shared.  He will be missed by all those that knew and loved him.

Tom was the devoted father of Juvani Scolastico of Andover, cherished son of Vera M. (Mercurio) Scolastico and the late Thomas J. Scolastico of Wilmington, dear brother of Doreen (Scolastico) Riley & her husband Ernie of Andover and David Scolastico & his wife Melissa of Wilmington, loving uncle of David & Erin Scolastico, Angela Scolastico and Andrew Scolastico, great uncle of Hudson, Otto, and Evan.  Tom is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
