Bette E. (Flaherty) White, 83, of Wilmington, formerly of Woburn & Lexington, died Friday, August 17, 2007, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Bette was born February 19, 1924, in Cambridge, MA; she was the daughter of the late John and Lillian (Anderson) Flaherty.
Bette grew up in Lexington, MA, where she received her education and graduated from Lexington High School. Following graduation, Bette, enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1943, where she was stationed in Brooklyn, NY, and honorably served her country during WWII. Upon completing her duty Bette returned to Lexington.
She married Francis J. White on May 15, 1949, and they were married for over 45 years until his passing in 1994. They moved to Woburn, MA, in 1953, where they raised their two sons, and resided until 1991, when they became residents of Wilmington. Bette was employed as a receptionist for Burlington Eye Association in Burlington, MA, for many years.
Bette adored being a "grandma" to Brenda, she loved spending time with her family and friends who will miss her dearly and she loved Tiger Woods . She was the devoted mother of Jeffrey F. White of Wilmington and Barry D. White & his wife Alice of Billerica, loving grandmother of Brenda Kissane of Billerica, sister of Donald Flaherty of Chelmsford and the late William Flaherty & Jeanne Brenchick.
Her funeral was held from the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Monday morning, at 9:00 followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas Church, 126 Middlesex Ave.,Wilmington, at 10:00 a.m. Interment took place in Wildwood Cemetery.
