While working full time, Bill was involved with IUE Local 201 and served on the executive board while continuing his education by taking classes at Newbury College. Bill retired after 39 years as a dedicated employee with the company.
Bill met his "sweetheart" Kathleen Murphy in 1958; the couple were inseparable, and they married on August 7, 1960. Bill and Kathleen lived in Lynn for a few years before moving to Wilmington, MA, in 1963 where they raised a wonderful family. Bill's family was always his priority, he enjoyed the time they spent together at family holidays and on their many vacations. Bill was a devoted husband and father, but he treasured his role as "Papa" he just loved being with his grandkids.

To escape the cold New England winters, the couple headed to Lady Lake, FL, where they had many friends and where Bill enjoyed "hitting the links". Following retirement, the couple moved to Florida full time where they enjoyed the sun and sand, hanging out with family and friends, and making countless memories before Kathleen's untimely passing in 2019. Following Kathleen's passing, Bill spent the last four years between Wilmington, MA and Canton, GA to be closer to family.
Throughout his life, Bill, was athletic and fit; he enjoyed going to the gym, playing softball, and was an avid golfer. Bill also loved all outdoor activities including fishing and hunting with his family and friends.
In his spare time, Bill liked catching up on his favorite television shows, doing cross word puzzles and word searches just to keep his mind sharp. Bill will be remembered as a great guy who would do anything for anyone; he had an endearing personality, and a huge heart. Bill will always live on in the hearts of those he loved.
Bill was the beloved husband of 58 years to Kathleen (Murphy) Pierce, he was the devoted father of William C. Pierce & his wife Lois of Jamestown, RI, Colleen Pettinati & her husband John of Canton, GA and John Pierce & his wife Kathleen of Wilmington, loving "Papa" of Emily, Corey, Kyle, Michaila, Jonathan, Brendan and Shauna.
